Care tips

All our products are made from 100% Oeko-Tex certified cotton. We have selected high-quality materials for our collection and ensured the best craftsmanship. To ensure you can enjoy your new products for a long time, please follow these care tips.

Wash

Wash herzbach home towels and bath mats at a maximum of 60 degrees Celsius. For light soiling, 30-40 degrees Celsius is often sufficient. This also protects the environment and the cotton fibers. Wash dark and light laundry separately as usual. For colored terry cloth items, use a color/delicate detergent, as unlike heavy-duty detergent, these do not contain optical brighteners. This keeps the colors vibrant and strong. Fabric softeners should be avoided if possible or used only in small amounts, as they cling to the cotton fibers like a film, reducing absorbency and promoting lint buildup.

Dry

After washing, stretch the towels and bath mats into shape and dry them, ideally outdoors in the shade or in a dryer on medium heat. Tumble drying will keep terry cloth beautifully soft. However, be careful not to overheat the item in the dryer. Also, avoid drying it near a radiator, as this can cause terry cloth to stiffen.

Fluff, threads and colors

To prevent lint buildup, make sure the washing machine isn't overfilled or underfilled. It's normal for some lint to build up initially, especially with high-quality terry cloth. This will subside after the first few washes.

Washing before first use reduces the risk of snagging. Furthermore, you should never wash your terry cloth with items that have hooks or zippers. Should a loop of thread stick out, don't pull it out; simply cut it off with scissors.

To avoid discoloration, be careful not to leave damp terry cloth items stacked on top of each other for extended periods. Always use detergent according to the manufacturer's instructions. Overdosing can cause detergent residue to build up on the fibers, hardening the cotton fibers and fading the colors.
